Keys to the Kingdom

Wow. The keys to the website. Let's go for a ride! No, I'm joking. I'm just sitting at a laptop, drinking some Cabernet and tapping away, and will submit this later. You shouldn't trust me with the keys.
Anyway, not much to say on the first blog. Ugh...blog. The word even sounds like someone vomiting:
“Hey Dan, you've drank a lot, and you don't look too well. You alright?”
“Yeah, I'm okay. I just ne...BLOG!”
“Aw Dan, now you're going to make me blog...BLOG!”
“I'm sorry, I...BLOG! oh god, make it stop...BLOG”
See what I mean? Plus, I really wonder if there's anyone who cares what I have to say. Or, do I even have anything to say?
No, I don't. But I'm getting paid $.12 per word (haha!) How may of you are going to count the words? Well, don't. I'm not getting paid for each word I write. I'm getting paid for every word that is read! So read this twice. And then let us know how many words you've read. We're working on the honor system here people, play it straight. So, because I said I would, I'm now going to blog all over you.
Okay, enough. I'm obviously stalling. Anyway, I'm currently checking out studios in which to record. I think 2010 is going to be a pretty exciting year for the blame, and I'm looking forward to it. It's going to be interesting to keep our regular club shows, keep our personal time, but then rehearse and record some new work. See, I like to record in blocks. What I mean is; some artists (for a number of different reasons) will record for a night or two, take time off, go back to the studio two weeks later, do another few hours, go on vacation or on tour for a month, go back to the studio, etc. How can you record one song over months of time? This is rock & roll. Plug in, turn on the mics, and roll 'em! I like to knock it out in a week or two, recording every night (yes, nights), maybe have a day or two off here and there. But I think an album, CD, a work, should reflect where we are at that time. Not where we were over an 8 or 10 month period, because “where you are” can change drastically over 8 months. It should be almost like a snapshot. “This was us that February of 2010. I remember those recording sessions, we had a fun couple of weeks.”, and so on.
Meantime, we have Franny O's coming up on the 8th of January, and I think The BackStage the following week. They should be fun. I hope a lot of you come out. We do love to play (for you), really.
So, I raise my glass to you (literally, and without spilling) and wish you a great 2010. I promise I'll get better at this blog thing (...BLOG!), so be patient.
Peace,
dp
